The various sets of mobile apps are making
an entry into the world to combat the issues of COVID-19.
Today with this post, we are going to draw
your attention towards the incredible app that is creating a stir in Northern
Ireland, and that app is COVID-19 NI.
A
word about COVID-19 NI
This very app is already got a massive
download rate that is more than 43,000 times, and there is a great number of
reviews and ratings from the users.
And surprisingly, this very app is getting
used thousand of times per day, and there are thousands of questions put up by
users on the COVID-19 NI. These questions are further answered and guided
through with the ‘chat-bot’, that further responds in real-time to questions from
users.
Improved
version of COVID-19 NI
With the new version, users can get
improved navigation, much detailed guidance, updated links to the latest
reports and a much upgraded symptom checker, which is based on the latest
information. The new version helps the user to get the benefits, such as:
ü Helps in identifying the symptoms of coronavirus;
ü Check the severity of the symptoms and measures to be taken to cope
up with;
ü Find out if they eventually need clinical advice and ways to access
it;
ü Get the advice for vulnerable members of the community;
ü Provide the isolation note if they are advised to self-isolate.
What
more is there?
Unlike the first version, the new app does
not ask users to submit any personal data, except their age, to ensure the
advice they receive, and also just the postcode, to ensure they are a Northern
Ireland resident.
The
Department of Health’s Chief Digital Officer Dan West stated, “We are very
pleased to be able to update the app and build on its success to date.
“The
Department of Health, working in partnership with two Belfast businesses,
Civica and BigMotive, built the mobile app in less than 10 days which is an
unprecedented speed for delivery of this kind of digital public service.
“The
process to design and test the app involved members of the public and was
aligned with accessibility guidelines, ensuring that the needs of all members
of the public who could use the app were taken into account,” he further
stated.
Health
Minister Robin Swann said, “This app underlines our commitment to keeping the
public as fully informed as possible.
“I
commend those who have made it possible in such a short space of time and who
have now continued with this pace of delivery with a second version.
“I
would encourage everyone to download and use the COVID-19 NI app,” he added.
